Diabetes Family Weekends
The Diabetes Family Weekends are held in Danville, Pennsylvania, Flintstone Maryland, and Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania. See Map
These weekends are for children with diabetes, ages 3-12, and their families. While the child with diabetes serves as the primary reason for the weekends, activities are planned for the entire family, including siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other adult caregivers.
Why attend the weekend?
Because managing diabetes requires a change in lifestyle, family support is needed. Many activities of daily living must be considered, including the food consumed, medication schedule, and activity level. Setebaid Services, Inc. in cooperation with Geisinger Medical Center, the Daniel S. O'Leary Clover Farm, and the Northeast Association of Diabetes Educators of Pennsylvania (NEADE), hosts these weekends to serve the families of children with diabetes and to assist them in adapting to manage diabetes. The primary purpose of this weekend is to establish a network of support and assist the families coping with the daily struggle of living with diabetes. |
